About The Founder
Paradise A. Bradford, Founder of Pretty Passionate Hands, A native of Niles, Michigan. She currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the daughter of the late Donald Riley Sr and Martha Riley. Her family owned and operated The Detail Specialist in Terre Haute for many years. Growing up in Terre Haute, Paradise appreciates the city for the many opportunities to excel and resources available around the community to help individuals become more successful. Although Paradise had a difficult childhood growing up in the city, she credits her resilience to The Bethany House Catholic Charities, which provided childcare programs and holiday support for her family.
Paradise attended Terre Haute South High School but soon transferred to Booker T. Washington Alternative school once becoming a teen mother as their programs offered assistance for teenage mothers. Although she dropped out of Booker T. Washington, it did not prevent her from pursuing her GED. With the assistance of classes from Terre Haute LightHouse Mission, Paradise a teen mother at 16, was able to prepare and pass her GED classes.
Emancipated at 16, Paradise understood it was time for her to begin making decisions that would be best for her and her child to the best of her ability. It was during that time, she received assistance from the Department of Workforce Development and Joseph Williams , who provided mentorship and guided her throughout her journey to receive free college preparation and career training. With their assistance, she enrolled in Advance Healthcare training and ultimately received her CNA license from Ivy Tech Community College Terre Haute campus.
As many women with children find themselves, Paradise made personal life choices that landed her incarcerated for 3 years, It was during her sentence she realized hit rock bottom and decided to change her life around. As a mother, the time away from her four children took the biggest toll. Paradise used her time of reflection to rebuild her life. Upon release, she had very few belongings, but amongst those belongings was a folder that held the 3-year plan of Pretty Passionate Hands Child Care Inc. Now a mother of 7 wonderful children, Oum’Uniquik, De’Rricka, Antonio, Christopher, Ar’Promis, Brandon, and her precious child in heaven Andre’Auna; she reconnected with her faith, learning to take life pains and turn them into positives while tackling life’s major goals. One of those major goals was purchasing her first home in 2020. It was a moment to prove there is no limit to what you can accomplish when you trust God and believe in yourself. Through life’s adversities, she continues to influence other teen parents in the community to believe “there is nothing greater than God, each child is a blessing, you are not a failure and with the right support, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”
